music program
Music is an integrated part of life at CCHS. Students perform at concerts, football games, pep rallies, and special events throughout the year, building both technical skill and confidence as musicians.
Our Concert Band travels annually to San Diego and participates in Southern California festivals and clinics. Jazz Band hosts our annual Jazz Café, where students perform alongside collegiate musicians for a memorable evening of live music. Students can also develop their voices through Elevate A Cappella and bring energy to campus events through Pep Band.
Courses & Opportunities:
Concert Band, Jazz Band, Elevate A Cappella, and Pep Band
Digital Arts
CCHS students explore the creative process through graphic design and photography, learning to communicate ideas through visual storytelling, thoughtful composition, and intentional design. In photography, students move beyond simply taking pictures to thoughtfully observing and capturing the world around them, developing an eye for light, perspective, detail, and story.
Classroom instruction is paired with hands-on opportunities to practice their craft in extraordinary settings. Photography field experiences have taken students to Yosemite, Death Valley, Bishop, and Zion, giving students the opportunity to photograph landscapes and environments far beyond the classroom while building the technical skills, creativity, and confidence to create meaningful visual work.
Courses & Opportunities:
Photography A/B, Photography II, and Photography Trips
Visual arts
Students explore both traditional and digital forms of artistic expression while developing technique, creativity, and their own artistic voice. From drawing and painting to graphic design and advanced studio work, courses provide opportunities for students at a variety of experience levels.
Yearbook gives students another avenue to combine creativity, photography, design, storytelling, and collaboration as they document the life of the CCHS community.
Courses Offered:
Drawing, Painting, Computer Graphics, AP Studio Art, AP Art History, and Yearbook
Art Beyond the Classroom
We believe some of the most memorable learning happens when students encounter art, music, and culture firsthand. Fine Arts students participate in performances, festivals, clinics, field experiences, and travel that expand what they experience in the classroom.
Students studying AP Art History have had opportunities to travel internationally to Italy, France, and Spain, experiencing significant works of art and architecture in the places where they were created.
