CALVARY CHAPEL Middle School

Middle School at Calvary Chapel Schools

Discover an environment where students are invited to ENGAGE in all aspects of learning with curiosity, purpose, and innovation.

Serving students in grades 6 through 8

Middle school is a unique and formative season when your child begins to grow in self-awareness and become more intentional in their learning. As they navigate new academic challenges and social dynamics, they’re also beginning to understand their strengths, their identity, and how they relate to others. As you explore private middle school options, you want an environment that:

  • Provides a strong academic program
  • Fosters a community where your child will be seen and known
  • Reflects the values you teach at home

At Calvary Chapel Middle School, your child will be invited to ENGAGE in all aspects of learning. This approach is part of the Calvary Learner Continuum, a framework that guides growth through each stage of development. Students engage in meaningful ways as they learn to know themselves, value others, and live in unity as part of something greater than themselves. We invite you to discover what this journey could look like for your child.

ENGAGE: The Middle School Journey

During the middle school years, your child is stepping into new levels of challenges and responsibilities. Even as they begin to assert their independence, they continue to need steady guidance and reassurance. At Calvary, the middle school experience is marked by the word Engage, defining our unique approach to this crucial season of growth.

Middle school students are invited to engage in all aspects of learning with curiosity, purpose, and innovation. Rooted in God’s boundless love, they identify personal strengths, grow in self-awareness and empathy for others, and mature as valuable and contributing members of our Christ-centered community. Every student is marked with mutual respect and called to unity.

This philosophy unfolds through a purposeful progression:

Knowing Me. Valuing You. Living As Us.

6th Grade Knowing Me

Sixth grade is a time of discovery, and your child will begin to understand what motivates them, where their strengths lie, and that they are known and loved by God as His image bearers. Through reflection, classroom discussion, and daily experiences, students at Calvary start to take greater ownership of their learning and grow in self-awareness.

EPHESIANS 2:10

“Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.”

7th Grade Valuing You

By seventh grade, your child’s perspective begins to widen. Relationships take on new importance as they learn to respond to others with empathy and see others as image bearers of God. Through collaboration and shared experiences, students begin to understand the value of respect, unity, and the role they play in building strong connections.

JOHN 13:34

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

8th Grade Living as us

In eighth grade, your child steps more fully into their place within the community. With growing confidence, they begin to take initiative and lead in meaningful ways. As they develop independence and self-advocacy, they also begin to recognize that they are a valuable and contributing member of the learning community. Students learn that the unique gifts God has given them can benefit and strengthen those around them.

ROMANS 12:4-5

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

Program Distinctives

At this stage, you may find yourself wondering how your child will handle increased pressure, navigate friendships, and continue to grow in confidence during a time when so much is changing. Our private middle school in the South Coast Metro Area will support your child within a community designed to navigate these years successfully.

Critical Thinking & Curiosity

Your child will be challenged to engage deeply in their learning, developing the skills needed for both academic success and real-world application.

  • Socratic seminars in English classes encourage thoughtful discussion and deeper understanding
  • Hands-on labs in science and math allow students to explore concepts through experimentation
  • Project-based learning invites students to apply knowledge in meaningful ways
  • Ethics-based discussions in the humanities help students wrestle with everyday questions through a biblical worldview

Culture & Community

At Calvary, the learning environment is shaped by a strong sense of belonging. Middle school can be an overwhelming season socially and emotionally, and we will guide your child through it with intention. Students are encouraged to build authentic relationships with both peers and teachers. We have structures in place, such as Homerooms, where students meet in small groups, and your child has space to develop positive habits that support their overall well-being.

At the same time, students are invited to engage in their learning with curiosity, purpose, and innovation. Academics are approached as a form of worship — an opportunity to better understand God’s created world and deepen their capacity to know and honor Him.

Connection & Camaraderie

A defining part of the middle school experience is the House System, where your child becomes part of a smaller community within the school. Over the course of three years, students remain in their House, building strong relationships and a sense of belonging. Through shared activities, friendly competition, and events such as the House Foundation Day, your child will experience school spirit in meaningful ways.

Character & Responsibility

As your child grows, they are given opportunities to take greater ownership of their learning and future goals:

  • Student-led conferences allow your child to reflect on their progress
  • Goal-setting practices help students track academic performance and plan next steps
  • Structured study time and homeroom support teach time management and responsibility
  • Opportunities for advanced coursework, including Integrated Math, support academic readiness
  • A focus on self-advocacy encourages students to take initiative and communicate their needs

Opportunities To Grow

Growth during the middle school years extends beyond the classroom. As your child explores their God-given gifts, these opportunities play an important role in shaping their confidence and overall development. Students at Calvary are encouraged to use and develop their individual gifts and talents to participate as important members of the learning community.

Hear From Our Families

Selecting the right middle school is a meaningful decision, and hearing from those who have experienced it firsthand can make all the difference. Our families and teachers share a common commitment to support each child as they engage fully in their learning and faith.

“Our daughter was warmly welcomed from the very beginning and quickly felt at home in the school community. She especially loved being involved in the drama program and band, which helped her grow in confidence and connection.”

— Calvary Parent

“As a parent, the impact Calvary Middle School has had on our family has been truly immeasurable. We were not raised in a faith-based home, so watching our son and all three of our children grow in such a loving, encouraging, and Christ-centered environment has been incredibly meaningful. Choosing Christian education has been a sacrifice we willingly make year after year because of the positive influence this school has had on both their education and their character.”

— Calvary Parent

From day one, we were welcomed into a warm, close-knit community that truly feels like it has our best interests in mind.  Our favorite part is that the school not only teaches academics, but also valuable principles of integrity, respect, humility, and forgiveness.  We love that the teachers are our partners; in on it alongside to raise individuals of great character.
